Analytical Paragraph

As mentioned in the memior, the character I created for this project goes through several large political changes. Russia in the 20th century had a political uprising, a change in political ruling, and went through two world wars. I wanted to make my character’s life as realistic as possible, but not overly mundane or dramatic. According to statistics of the time of my character’s birth, there 84% of the population of Russia belonged to the working class. Due to propoganda spread by the Bolshevilks, it was likely that Natasha would have followed much of the Communist party’s teachings. At the time, most citizens in the Soviet Union were dedicated to the state and willing workers. However, it is likely that she would have been able to get access to an education, due to the laws that pushed for more equal education to allow women into the workforce. During the time of Natasha’s life, there were also many food shortages where she lived, and in the Soviet Union, everyone made the same wage, so food could be hard to attain in these times of shortages. Through an analysis of the drastically changing politics of Russia and the Soviet Union, it is possible to examine how the people of the time may have lived.
