As this project started, I utilized class lectures concerning political events prior to 1914 as a guide in compiling the timeline of political events prior to the war. I utilized John Bourne's essay and Anthony Bruce's illustrated guide to ascertain what the soldier's environment would have been like, allowing me to add greater depth to the descriptions of each battlefield. Peter Chasseaud's collection on trench maps helped me to navigate through the plethora of military engagements during World War One and ascertain which held technological significance. I also used Henry Terrence Skinner's work on military events to correctly create the alliance map and add depth to the political timeline and battlefield descriptions.
